Digital media classes are designed to encourage students to develop a personal vision, take risks, problem-solve, and learn from failure as well as success. Students will learn the primary tools for creating such digital media products as public service announcements, commercials, documentaries, music videos, and short films. They will view films and film segments to identify what makes a good story, and will implement their own storyboarding projects as a precursor to creating a script for their projects. Students will be introduced to terms and vocabulary used in filmmaking and learn the fundamental techniques of camera shots and angles. Working collaboratively, individually, or in small groups, students get hands-on practice in producing their own digital media products and get a chance to explore writing, acting, directing, cinematography and editing. There is a year-end culminating film fest highlighting the students’ work.
