Welcome Boarding Students!

Dear Boarding Students and Parents,

To those who are new, welcome! To our returning students, welcome back! We have created a warm and comfortable family setting that is safe, structured, enriching, and productive. We will provide personal and academic support to each of you, so that your home environment will complement the academic and social experience you will receive at Pilgrim school. In addition, we look forward to helping you to enjoy the variety of opportunities available in the city of Los Angeles.
The handbook found on the Parent Resources page of the website contains most of the routines, expectations, services and facilities of our Boarding Program, and will be useful and of interest to both students and parents. This Boarding Handbook is a guide to life in boarding at Pilgrim School. These procedures have been designed to support the school and boarding community and to ensure the safety, happiness and productivity of all. In summary, the routines and regulations of the Boarding Program have been established to:
  1. ensure the safety of students.
  2. preserve harmony so that energy can be directed toward studies, extracurricular activities and the development of a sense of community life.
  3. provide quiet times so students can study and relax.
  4. maintain an attractive, clean, welcoming environment.
It is important to realize that living peacefully in a small community requires that all members be respectful of one another. Respect means acceptance of viewpoints that differ from your own and a generous attitude to those around you. We expect our students to be kind, courteous, and considerate of others, and follow the rules and routines of the boarding program. Due to the greater responsibility the school takes for those who live in the boarding facility, some rules for boarders and day students may differ. However, many of the rules are similar and when violated the consequences are the same as those faced by all students; please also refer to the Secondary Student Handbook which governs the expectations of all students during the school day.

Please remember, these procedures are intended as guidelines only. The boarding faculty, as your surrogate parents, will make decisions in the best interest of individual students and the community as a whole. We will listen to you, empathize with you, and help you as best we can.

On behalf of the Head of School, the Director of the Upper School, and our wonderful Pilgrim School faculty and staff, we would like to greet you and thank you for trusting us to assist in your growth and development, intellectually, socially, and emotionally.

All the best,
The Boarding Faculty
