“What one has not experienced, one will never understand in print.”
- Isadora Duncan
Dance at Pilgrim School is an experience! The Secondary dance program welcomes every student. Dance at Pilgrim embraces being in the heart of Los Angeles, exploring various styles that engage students and generate interest regardless of experience level. All dance classes begin with the basic fundamentals of ballet and move on to more contemporary styles such as Jazz, Hip Hop, and Cultural dances. Students are also exposed to different choreographers and Master Teachers from the LA commercial community. The dances classes at Pilgrim are performance based. The students rehearse for three different concerts; Informal Concert in the Fall which is a works in progress concert for friends and family to see what is being worked on in class. The Holiday Concert presents a more traditional style with lyrical pieces and is a combination concert with the Pilgrim School Band. The grand finale for the dance students is the Spring Dance Concert which is one of the most popular concerts of the year. The Spring Dance Concert is a combination of student and faculty dance pieces and is the true soul of the dancers' experience. Whether a student takes dance for one year or four years, they are sure to walk away with awareness and appreciation for dance in all aspects of the art form.
“Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion.”
