Emilia Mendieta Córdova is an Ecuadorian-American cinematographer with a passion for traveling, food, and storytelling.
Emilia Mendieta Córdova is an Ecuadorian-American cinematographer with a passion for traveling, food, and storytelling. She has a B.A. from Vassar College in Film Production and Chinese Language and Culture, and an MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute (AFI) Conservatory. Emilia currently is an active commercial, narrative, and documentary cinematographer splitting her time between projects in Los Angeles, California and Quito, Ecuador. She has shot a number of short films in both digital and 35mm, a feature length documentary, Adictos en Recuperación and a feature film, To the New Girl. She has taught cinematography at universities in Ecuador and occasionally gives filmmaking seminars in Quito where she hopes to revolutionize Ecuadorian cinema's approach to digital filmmaking. She will work with our secondary Digital Arts students on creating story lines for short films.
